Labor Day weekend is the time when car enthusiasts can satisfy their quench for nice looking cars. The Lake Placid Ski Club held its 33rd Annual Olympic Car Show and Parade on Sunday September 6th, on the Olympic Speed Skating Oval in Lake Placid. This event is a major fundraiser for the Ski Clubs children ski education programs. Past participant in the children ski education programs have not only learned to ski, but a few have made it all the way to Olympics and won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for the USA.
More than 100 car show participants were in a parade through downtown Lake Placid around noon, ending on the oval. Included in the parade were the local and state police as well as the Lake Placid Fire Department.
The cars were then on display from noon until 4 p.m. on the Speed Skating Oval for spectator viewing and judging. Each one of the visitors got one ballot to elect their top three cars. Three trophies and cash awards were given to the Best of Show as selected by the spectators and participants. As for my top three? Here they are in descending order.
